Welcome

I bring 25 years of experience in public education, as a classroom teacher and a Reading Specialist, to my work at the Reading Light LLC.  In addition to a Reading Specialist certification from Penn State University, I hold other advanced certifications in Reading Science and the Orton-Gillingham approach from Mount Saint Joseph's University and a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist Certification from the International Dyslexia Association/Center for Effective Reading Instruction.

My professional interests include the development of MTSS frameworks, the execution of collaborative problem-solving models to enact systems change, and the cultivation of school cultures that prevent reading failure.

I have the academic preparation, practical background, professional expertise, and the heart to help meet your literacy needs!  Thank you for continuing to explore The Reading Light LLC!

I'm Elizabeth Berardinelli, M. Ed., C-SLDS, founder of The Reading Light LLC. Reading is more than my career; it is my passion!  I firmly believe that in the 21st Century achieving a literate life is a right that all individuals deserve.

About

The Reading Light LLC is committed to ensuring that all individuals have the opportunity to learn to read well.  The Reading Light LLC can provide:

  • Targeted reading instruction for all ages

  • Support for caregivers navigating how to best help their learners

  • Professional development for educators seeking guidance and growth in their literacy practice.

Approach

The work of the Reading Light LLC is grounded in the vast body of research referred to as "The Science of Reading" and the complimentary principles of "Structured Literacy." Structured Literacy is an approach to literacy learning that emphasizes direct, explicit, intentionally sequenced instruction in both word recognition and language comprehension.  This approach is not a curriculum or a "one-size fits all" model; assessment of the learner's needs drives instruction to target the identified needs and create a path forward to literacy proficiency.
